Wellness Lounge

This year, the Wellness Lounge has been designed to give you a place to take some time out from the rigors of academia and rediscover ways to relax. It is the perfect place to fill the time between sessions, offering comfortable bean bags to lounge on, a craft corner to put your mindfulness into practice, and a hang-out area complete with giant board games!

This year, we’ve begun our first MDSC Book Swap Library: so, bring a novel* that you’d happily pass on, or simply take a book from the shelf and be a part of some great recycling!

(*strictly no medical textbooks!)

Self-care: we know it helps and is important, but with studying medicine, it can be difficult to set time for looking after yourself and your wellbeing. This year, the Health and Wellbeing Practitioners of the Melbourne Medical School will be in the Wellness Lounge to provide brief wellbeing ‘check ups’ and work with you to quickly gauge your personal sense of wellbeing and life satisfaction. It is hoped that allowing time to check up on your wellbeing can facilitate discussions around staying well over the second half of the year and making further time for your self-care. They will be available during Afternoon Tea on Monday and Tuesday.

It is our goal to allow every student the time to reflect on their wellbeing and to further facilitate discussion around staying well over the second half of the year.
