[O]m[G]: Emergencies in Obstetrics and Gynaecology

It’s Saturday and you’re a registrar running your morning clinic at the Royal Women’s Hospital. Ms. OG comes to you for her first ever cervical screening test, and she’s a little worried. She doesn’t know what the test involves, she’s concerned about it being painful, and she doesn’t even know why she should have it done! What are you going to tell her? How are you going to perform the test? You then get an urgent page asking you to run to ED…

In this workshop, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Dr. Grant Saffer will introduce you to the concept of cervical screening, including the basics of the procedure and the different possible outcomes. You will also work in teams to respond to gynaecological emergencies – taking histories, observing the signs and managing the patients. A brand new Obs/Gynae workshop for MDSC, this is perfect for students with an interest in Women’s health.
